Notes:
When comparing decimals, you need to think which is closest to the whole number 1. Think of each large square is equal to the whole number 1. In the first block is divided into ten equal parts. 1 out of the 10 is shaded yellow = 1/10. In the second block it is divided into one hundred equal parts. 1 out of 100 squares is colored in yellow = 1/100. The third block is divided into one thousand equal parts. 1 out of 1,000 squares is colored in yellow = 1/1000.

Visually you can see it will take many more pieces in the thousandths block to get to 1 then it does in the tenths block.
1/10 > 1/1000
1/10 > 1/100
1/100 > 1/1000
